National Fallout Shelter Survey Records 1962-1984 1984

The National Fallout Shelter Survey Collection is part of the Sandusky and Erie County History Collection at the Sandusky Library. It provides information about buildings in Erie County, based on a national survey conducted by the United States government. The survey identified structures and then determined their ability to serve as fallout shelters in case of a nuclear attack. All of the surveys were conducted in 1984. Some of the folders in the collection have information about a previous survey that was conducted in 1962.
